Being Right

Right or wrong? It is nice when we get that satisfied feeling that comes from being right. And we don’t understand why anyone would disagree with us. And yet they do.

It is actually pretty easy to have an opinion. And it isn’t hard to start to believe that our opinion is the end of the conversation. After all, our opinion is based on a lifetime of experience and a ton of research. Or maybe it is based on someone else’s opinion which is based on a lifetime of experience and a ton of research. Either way – it must be right.

W. Clement Stone said, “Have the courage to say no. Have the courage to face the truth. Do the right thing because it is right. These are the magic keys to living your life with integrity.”

These are important words. A life of integrity. Courage. Do the right thing. But what exactly is “right”?

Right Isn’t Enough is an exploration of that murky world that lies between the law and absolute freedom to do whatever you want – the messy area of decisions and personal responsibility.

When individual rights and freedoms clash with collective values we all need to think a little harder about our role in the larger world.
